Green roof on EPDM
Under a living roof the membrane has to resist roots for its whole life. That is why a green roof has its own strict rules.
1.5 mm membrane only
RubberGard EPDM 1.5 mm passes the root-resistance test to EN 13948. The 1.1 mm membrane and the self-adhesive RubberGard SA are not used under a green roof.
Protected seams
Seams are covered with LDPE sheet at least 0.4 mm thick, lapped at least 1 m, or the seam edges are sealed with Pourable Sealer.
A strip without plants
A strip at least 500 mm wide along edges and upstands stays free of plants and is filled with gravel.
Can the roof carry it?
A green roof with substrate and water is heavy. Sometimes the structure has to be checked – we will help you find out. The full build: roof systems.
