What goes into your roof.

Every layer comes from one maker, Elevate, and is made to work with the others. Here is what each part is and the numbers that matter.
RubberGard EPDM membrane
A fully cured synthetic rubber sheet with no reinforcement, made from two layers of the same compound. It does not need heat to install and it does not get brittle in the cold.

Reaction to fire: class E. Roof systems with RubberGard reach BROOF classes in tested build-ups; we confirm the class for your exact build. Keep the membrane away from oils, petroleum products and hot bitumen.
Below the membrane
- V-Gard vapour control layerSelf-adhesive sheet with an aluminium face. Goes down cold and stops moist indoor air from reaching the insulation.
- SA-19 PrimerPrepares the deck so the self-adhesive layer grips.
- PIR insulation boardsRigid boards, bonded with I.S.O. Twin Pack adhesive or fixed with plates, depending on the system.
- ISOGARD HD cover board12.7 mm high-density board. Protects the insulation and spreads the load of feet and equipment.
QuickSeam: seams and flashings
- Splice Tape 76 mmThe standard seam tape, 30.5 m rolls.
- Splice Tape 152 mmWide tape for seams with a fixing inside.
- FormFlashUncured EPDM that stretches round corners and odd shapes. 152 to 450 mm wide.
- QuickSeam Flashing127 mm strip for straight edges and trims.
- SA Flashing457 mm cured EPDM with tape, for details and repairs.
- RMA Strip254 mm fastening strip for mechanically attached roofs.
- Perimeter (RPF) Strip152 mm strip that fixes the membrane at the base of every wall.
- Batten Cover StripCovers a batten fixed over the sheet, running at least 75 mm past each end.
- Pipe and Conduit FlashingsMoulded boots: pipes Ø 25–152 mm, conduits Ø 13–64 mm.
- Penetration PocketFor groups of pipes and steel sections, filled with Pourable Sealer.
- Drain ConnectorConnects the membrane to a drain with an EPDM flange.
- Walkway Pad762 × 762 mm rubber pad for paths on the roof.
- QuickPrime and QuickScrubberThe only primer for QuickSeam products, scrubbed on until an even dark grey.
Adhesives and sealants
- Bonding Adhesive BA-2012Contact adhesive for insulation, timber, metal and masonry. Rolled onto both surfaces.
- BA-2012 spray canisterSpray version for upstands and smaller roofs.
- Modular WB AdhesiveWater-based adhesive for plywood and OSB.
- Lap Sealant HSSeals cut edges of FormFlash and SA Flashing, patches and the top of termination bars.
- Water Block SealButyl sealant that works under pressure: under termination bars and clamping rings.
- Pourable SealerTwo-part sealer for penetration pockets and green roof seams.
- Splice WashCleans old or dirty membrane before seaming or repair.
Metal parts and fixings
- Termination BarAluminium bar that holds the top of the membrane on a wall, fixed at 200 mm or closer.
- Metal Batten StripGalvalume batten for fixing at the base of walls and in seams.
- Fasteners and platesHeavy-duty and all-purpose screws with insulation plates. Length and spacing are calculated for each roof.
Weather and temperature
Surfaces must be clean and dry: no ice, frost, dew or standing water. Adhesive work stops in the rain.
| Product | Working temperature |
|---|---|
| Bonding Adhesive BA-2012 | 5–35 °C |
| Bonding Adhesive BA-2012 spray canister | 5–25 °C |
| SA-19 Primer | 5–45 °C, dry weather only |
| RubberGard SA self-adhesive membrane | down to −7 °C |
| Tapes, FormFlash, flashings | stored at 15–25 °C; brought to room temperature before use when colder |
In a Latvian winter, bonded roofs wait for days of at least 5 °C, or we use the self-adhesive RubberGard SA, which can go down at −7 °C. Materials are kept warm and brought to the roof as they are needed.
Mistakes we avoid
- Adhesive in the seam zone.
- Joining surfaces before the contact adhesive has passed the touch test, or putting it on one surface only.
- Skipping the primer, or not letting it flash off. Using any primer other than QuickPrime.
- Not letting the membrane relax for about 30 minutes before bonding.
- Using cold tape or FormFlash straight from a cold van.
- Stretching QuickSeam Flashing round a three-dimensional corner.
- Water Block left without pressure or open to sunlight.
- A termination bar run round a corner without being cut.
- The 1.1 mm or self-adhesive membrane under a green roof or solar panels.
