What the EPDM roof price depends on
There is no single price per square metre: two roofs of the same size can cost very differently. These are the factors.
1. Area and shape
A large, simple roof can be covered with a few sheets – RubberGard sheets are up to 15.25 m wide. More corners, levels and penetrations mean more work.
2. Deck and old covering
Concrete, steel deck or timber. Whether the old covering can stay or must come off – see flat roof repair.
3. Insulation
Whether a vapour control layer is needed and how thick the insulation should be. That depends on the building and on how the rooms under the roof are used.
4. Fixing method and membrane thickness
Fully adhered, mechanically attached or ballasted. Usually 1.1 mm is enough; green roofs and roofs with solar panels use 1.5 mm. All options: roof systems.
5. Upstands and details
Length of parapets and walls, pipes, vents, drains and roof edges. Each detail is built separately: details.
6. Access and season
Building height, lifting materials to the roof and weather. Contact adhesive is applied at 5 °C or above; for cold weather there is the self-adhesive RubberGard SA membrane.
What to send for a quote
- the address or town;
- roof measurements or the approximate area;
- a few photos of the roof, upstands and drains;
- what is on the roof now (roofing felt, bitumen membrane, other);
- whether the roof also needs insulating.
