Flat roof insulation
In a warm roof the insulation sits above the deck, under the EPDM membrane. It stays dry and works all year.
Layers from the bottom up
- V-Gard vapour control layer – stops moist indoor air reaching the insulation.
- RESISTA AK PIR boards – thermal conductivity 0.023 W/m·K; the thickness is chosen for the heat loss the roof has to meet.
- ISOGARD HD cover board where the project calls for it – protects the insulation and spreads the load.
- RubberGard EPDM membrane.
Is a vapour control layer always needed?
No. It depends on the building and how the rooms are used. We check this for your roof before we quote.
Insulating during renovation
If the old insulation is wet, it comes off – wet material does not insulate. Then the roof is built again with every layer. See flat roof repair.
Inverted roof
There is another way: the membrane goes straight onto the deck and the insulation sits on top of it, protecting the membrane from heat, frost and feet. All options: roof systems.
