Flat roof repair and re-roofing
If your old bitumen roof leaks, cracks or holds puddles after rain, it can be replaced with an EPDM rubber membrane – one large sheet with very few seams.
Signs it is time for a new roof covering
- leaks at walls, pipes or drains;
- blisters, cracks or open seams in the covering;
- water stands in puddles after rain;
- the roof has been patched several times and leaks again.
Does the old roof have to come off?
Not always. Elevate allows EPDM to be laid over an existing bitumen covering. But if the insulation under the old covering is wet or the deck is damaged, the old layers come off. We decide after seeing the roof, not over the phone.
EPDM must not come into contact with hot bitumen or oils, so nothing on a new EPDM roof is patched with bitumen mastic.
How re-roofing works
- Inspection and measuring. We assess the deck, insulation, upstands and drains.
- Quote. We choose the system and every layer for your roof.
- Preparation. The deck must be clean, dry and even: gaps wider than 5 mm are filled.
- Insulation if needed. V-Gard vapour control layer, RESISTA AK PIR insulation and ISOGARD HD cover board.
- RubberGard EPDM membrane. Seams with QuickSeam tape, upstands at least 150 mm high.
- Final check. We check every seam and every detail.
No open flame
RubberGard EPDM is bonded with contact adhesive and the seams are made with tape. No gas torches are needed, so the work is safer on timber structures and homes.
