Flat roof on a new build
For a new house or building we install the EPDM roof with the full Elevate system. The system follows the deck.
The system follows the deck
- Concrete: usually every layer is bonded and nothing goes through the membrane.
- Profiled steel: the membrane is held by RMA fastening strips fixed in lines.
- Ballast: where the structure can carry the weight and the slope is 10% or less, the membrane is laid loose under ballast.
All six builds, layer by layer: roof systems.
What to decide at the design stage
- upstand height at walls and parapets – at least 150 mm above the finished roof;
- outlet positions and the way water leaves the roof;
- insulation thickness and whether a vapour control layer is needed;
- whether the roof will carry a green roof, solar panels or walkways.
Wind load calculation
On mechanically attached and ballasted roofs the number of fixings and the ballast weight come from a wind load calculation for your building. We do not guess them.
