Garage roof with EPDM
A garage roof is small, but a leak is just as unpleasant. EPDM suits it well: one sheet, few seams and no fire next to a car.
Few seams
RubberGard sheets are 3.05 to 15.25 m wide, so a garage roof can often be covered with one sheet. A row of garages can be done with a few large sheets for the whole roof at once.
No flame
The membrane is bonded with contact adhesive and the seams are made with tape. No gas torches – which matters when there is a car, fuel or timber in the garage.
Concrete or timber
On concrete the membrane is bonded with Bonding Adhesive BA-2012. On plywood or OSB we use Modular WB Adhesive. Edges get edge trims and QuickSeam Flashing, and the membrane is turned up walls at least 150 mm.
The old covering
Whether the old felt can stay is decided after we see it: EPDM must not touch hot bitumen or oils. More: flat roof repair.
